If restaurants were opened only for one part of the day, which one would you choose? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner time? It’s probably a less popular answer, but for me, it would be breakfast. I love eating out for breakfast.
And I live in (the best city ever) Gdynia, Poland.
Because of this combination, you can be sure that I have something to say about the best places to eat breakfast and brunch in Gdynia.
Regardless if you visit Gdynia only for one day (for example, when visiting Gdańsk or on the way to Hel) or for a longer time (maybe during Opener?) it’s good to know where to eat.
Where to eat breakfast or brunch in Gdynia? I will tell you in this article.

Best places to eat breakfast in Gdynia: Classic places
I was wondering if I should start this post with these most modern and very Instagram-known places, or rather, these classic ones that have been here already for longer. But as we are at the seaside, after all, I couldn’t start differently than from breakfast at the beach.
Best places to eat breakfast in Gdynia: Minga Café
The most classic, in the best sense, place to eat breakfast and brunch (and lunch and dinner, too) in Gdynia. They have a few breakfast sets, and all are really good. My favourites have been toasts with salmon and scrambled eggs. They also have good coffee and a great apple pie. One more thing: the view, as the café is just next to the city beach. With tables outside, it just makes it the perfect spot for a sunny morning.
The only downside is that Café Minga is open quite late, since 9:30 a.m. And during summer days, especially at weekends, it can get pretty busy from the start. I saw many people booking tables in the sunshine even before it opened. So try to visit during the week, if it’s possible.
Anyway, Minga Café and their breakfast are just the essence of Gdynia. Don’t miss it!
Trafik Gdynia
Another place, Trafik, is not so far from the sea and has good food. You can also take it away and go to eat somewhere in the port or on the beach (as I’ve done it a few times). I like their Provansale breakfast.
Cyganeria
Café Cyganeria is in the centre, on the way from the train station to the sea. It was opened in 1946, and it’s said to be the oldest café in Tricity. Years ago, it had this old, bohemian style. I remember spending a lot of afternoons there with tea or beer. A few years ago, it was renovated; still, it has an artistic feel, but in a modern style. Anyway, their breakfast is good and big enough, for example, waffles with eggs.
Chwila Moment
Café Chwila Moment is next to the main street in the city and not far from the seaside. It has nice tables outside on a pleasant square. They have different breakfast sets, good bagels and croissants, and are not super expensive.
Best places to eat breakfast in Gdynia: Modern (Insta-fashionable) places
Every city has this one or a few places that are all around Instagram, usually in similar style. In Gdynia, there are a few as well.
Best places to eat breakfast in Gdynia: Pokusa Bakery
Pokusa, the younger sister of Tłok Café, reminds me a bit of Copenhagen. They have good sourdough bread and pastries, and obviously coffee. Breakfast is also really good, and in ‘modern style’, toasts or labneh. It can also get quite busy, especially at weekends.
In July, they sell ‘jagodzianki’, sweet buns full of blueberries. It’s quite traditional Polish speciality, but they do it with a modern twist; you can also buy vegan ones. I love them; you just need to hurry to catch them.
Flow Café
Café on the ‘other side’ of the main street in Gdynia. It’s quite a small place, so it gets busy quickly. It reminds me more of Berlin places. They have a frequently changing menu, and they offer seasonal food.
TBT
The newest place in Gdynia, recently gaining more social media attention. Well, this place is worth it. It’s not the cheapest, maybe, but really good food quality, and changing menu. I also like the design of the place. Generally speaking, recommended.
Best places to eat breakfast in Gdynia: Other cafes
There are more places worth mentioning. Maybe they are not typical ‘breakfast spots’ but they have decent breakfast and a great atmosphere.
Coffee Shop Happy People
You can eat here bagel or pastries. The coffee is very good, and the interior is pleasant, with plants. I recommend this place as a spot to work from.
Hygge Cafe
Another café that is perfect to work from; I visit it often with my laptop. The interior reflects the name, Hygge, it’s really cosy in Danish style. Again, you can drink good coffee here, eat cakes, and also eat toasts or eggs for breakfast.
Lavenda Café
Great place for coffee and cake, but they also have pancakes or baguettes, perfect for brunch. Lavenda is not the cheapest place, but it’s quality.
Kaiser Patisserie
In Kaiser, for breakfast, you can eat only sandwiches or pastries (and a lot of sweets too). However, the place has such a nice atmosphere and a pretty and elegant interior that I wanted to add it as well.
It’s on the way from the train station to the sea. I visit the place often, just to buy the bread. They have great rye bread.
Cannolo&more
This is mostly a café with cannoli, the Sicilian desert. Every day, they have a few tastes of cannoli, which are really good and interesting. However, they also do sweet and savoury breakfasts.
Serwus
The last place is further from the city centre, in Orłowo.
Orłowo is a must-see in Gdynia because of its views, cliffs, and pier. It’s the perfect place for a walk to enjoy the sea. You can get there by city train, SKM; it takes only around 6 minutes from Gdynia Główna station. The breakfast place, called Serwus, is almost on the way from the train stop to the sea.
As you can imagine, it’s not all the places yet. There are more restaurants or cafes in which you can eat breakfast. However, I wanted to describe those that are, in my opinion, best and at the same time most known. Except for the one in Orłowo, the rest are in the city centre, within walking distance, so you can check which one is for you.
Enjoy Gdynia!
