Everyone has their own style of travel. Mine is a ‘mobile style’ (name invented by me). I love moving and finding ways to ‘connect’ places. Flight to Riga? Let’s see Tallinn and Vilnius as well. Cheap flights to Santorini? Ok, but let’s take a few ferries to see less-known Cycladic islands too.

And, btw, ferries are my favourite mode of transport. I love island hopping; it’s some other level of holiday. In Europe, it’s best to do it in Greece and Croatia.

For ferries research and booking, I usually use Ferryscanner.

For trains, buses, Rome2Rio, and Omio.

For planes, I simply check Google Flights and then directly airline websites. But it’s also because I just follow the newest connections to many places in Europe, and part of it I know by heart (crazy, I know). If you want to have everything in one place, check out WayAway.

Accommodation

I guess I can’t say I do budget travel, but I’m also nowhere near luxury travel. I rather don’t stay in hostels anymore (I mean, in dormitories, private rooms are still possible). I’m afraid I have to admit it has changed with age. Now I need to have a private room and bathroom, and it has to be clean.

I don’t need anything super special, just very standard. Sometimes, I try to find something ‘normal but something special’ still within ‘standard’ budget. By ‘standard’ I mean 80-100 Euro per night for two people. At this price, you can find chain hotels, small guesthouses, or family hotels, and nice private apartments on Booking.com.

It’s the website I use for all my trips in Europe.

Just have a look at what great (and still ‘standard’) places I’ve found and had the pleasure to stay there: La Laguna Gran Hotel and Hacienda on Banana Plantation on Tenerife, Caves on Santorini or Kritikakis Village on Ios island.

How to visit things

I love doing travel research and visiting places just by myself. Actually, for some time, I was very much against any group trips. It has changed since I didn’t really feel like driving in the icy suburbs of Tromso or going alone to the Omani mountains. I’ve convinced myself that doing a group trip or renting a guide, once for some time, is actually really comfortable. And I can get to know the place even more if a local guide shows me around.

I still visit alone a lot, but once in a while I use GetYourGuide. For now, all the experiences (for example, Northern Lights in Tromso), were really good.

Travel essentials

I have to admit, when travelling in Europe, it’s often low-cost airlines, like Ryanair or Wizzair. For longer trips, I buy the ‘bigger hand-luggage option’ and take my Cabin Zero Backpack. It’s light and comfortable, the best for my mobile-style trips.

Other essentials? Flip-flops, but I guess here you don’t really need my recommendations 😊

Remember also about the insurance. I always buy on the Polish website, so I will not recommend any for you. I’m sure though there are many; just search for ‘travel insurance online’ in your language.

Other than that, you will need some knowledge about the places you are going to. Here, I’m sure my articles can help, at least a little bit!
